There’s a changing of the guard at Sony Pictures Entertainment, with chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra set to step down, and Ravi Ahuja set to become president and CEO beginning in 2025.

Sony Pictures Entertainment will see a transition at the top early next year when Tony Vinciquerra hands the CEO reins to studio president Ravi Ahuja.

Ahuja, currently Chairman of Global Television Studios and President and COO, will officially assume his new position on Jan. 2, 2025.

Ahuja will report to Sony Group Corporation’s leadership, including Chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida and President Hiroki Totoki. In a statement, Yoshida praised Ahuja’s leadership, saying, “Ravi has been instrumental in navigating today’s media and entertainment challenges, and we are excited for him to lead SPE’s continued growth.”

Tony Vinciquerra is credited for quietly turning around the Culver City studio and pursuing a profitable strategy at a time when competitors have struggled with billion-dollar streaming losses.

Ravi Ahuja’s steady rise at Sony Pictures has taken him all the way to the top. The company announced its president and chief operating officer will take over as President and chief executive officer on January 2 when chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra steps down.
